“Trust yourself, everything is possible!”
Arriving in Australia from South Sudan in 2011, Madlina is raising her three young children as a single mum and working hard to create a new future for herself.
To support her family, Madlina has juggled a cleaning job, working at a local meat processing factory, studying English and studying the Certificate III in Individual Support with genU Training in Warrnambool.
Madlina explains that her cultural upbringing and respect for her elders created an interest in working in the Ageing Sector, and when her friend suggested that she would be the ‘perfect fit’ for the industry, Madlina decided to explore her options.
Despite her reservations about undertaking study with her newly developing English language skills, Madlina has found that the support she has been provided by genU Training has allowed her to develop her confidence and readiness for work in supporting others who are ageing. Madlina says that completing the Certificate III in Individual Support - “Means everything.” She encourages others by explaining that - “It’s worth talking to someone and trust yourself, everything is possible!”
